“Performing in Wandering Souls first tour through DC’s homeless shelters, prisons and housing projects was a fascinating experience.  It was quite beautiful to create theater in spaces that were never meant for it for people that would not have expected us to be there.  The importance of ensuring that this type of art continues to reach our community can’t be higher.”
-Dave Bobb, actor

"Glad to hear that WS is coming back. It was a very important experience for me. The least of which, was what I got out of it. I had been wanting to give something back to my community for some time but didn't seem to have a clear outlet and figured that the most expensive thing I could offer was my time. Money only goes so far and does so much, but the human aspect of spending time with people in need and giving them time and attention says that I not only care about the needs and lives of those we played to, but we wished to lighten their load  for the time we shared with them and bring, with our performance, a lasting memory of joy..."remember when we saw that play..."

I was especially moved by the performances we did at the transitional housing  (off the orange line?) and at the DC Juvenile detention center off West Virginia Avenue NE. In both instances our presence was about simply about telling a story, not commenting on our being there. I felt they were our two best audiences. They laughed and were so very attuned to the arc of a story seemingly so far from their circumstances yet connecting to the universal themes of chasing a dream, addressing hardships & adversity and moving forward to reach one's goals while keeping a clear eye on the present.

The responses were amazing and the exchanges after those performances came down made me think, I cannot wait to come back here with another show. To share a tragedy, a history, another comedy; to share another story and thereby bringing entertainment and possibly a level of catharsis through laughter. Bringing the tales of Shakespeare to those who would not normally have them available.

I'd go so far as to say they were the best audiences that I ever played to."
-Michael John Casey, actor

"I just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful show last night.  The women really enjoyed it, I have heard nothing but rave reviews."
- Manager, N Street Village

"I wanted to make sure that you knew how much the residents enjoyed the performance here at St. Mary's Court on Oct. 16.
We really appreciated being part of your tour and hope to be included again"
- Manager, St Mary's Court

"I wanted to say a huge thank you to you and all the Wandering Souls for your performance at Central Union Mission last Monday evening!  The performance went very well, and I think everyone truly enjoyed it.  It was the talk of the building the next day!  This is such a great project and certainly brought joy and dignity into the lives of our Overnight Guests, even if just for one evening.  Terry, who filled in for you in the final line, was so proud of his accomplishment.
Please keep us in the loop on any further projects you might be working on.  We would love to have you come again"
- Community Affairs Associate, Central Union Mission
